West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce faces losing his assistant manager Neil McDonald.
The London Evening Standard says Allardyce’s trusted lieutenant, first-team coach McDonald, is poised to become manager at League two strugglers Carlisle United.
McDonald, who also worked under Allardyce at Bolton and Blackburn, is the leading contender to land the job after being spotted at Brunton Park during Carlisle’s 4-4 draw with Wimbledon on Saturday.
McDonald, 48, was previously manager at Carlisle in 2006-07 and also had a short spell in charge at Swedish club Ostersunds.
