Arsenal and Liverpool have been dealt a transfer blow in their chase for Real Madrid ace Isco, with manager Carlo Ancelotti confirming he wants to keep the midfielder, Metro reports.
Isco was heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu after the arrivals of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez during the summer, which has alerted Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool to become interested in his services.
However, Ancelotti is hoping to keep the Spain international, and promises to give Isco more playing time despite the club’s new midfield signings.
“He had a great season last year and we have a lot of faith in him. He is the future of this squad,” Ancelotti said.
“Isco and [Asier] Illarramendi have a lot of personality and respect my decisions. They are always ready to play.”
Manchester City are also monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation, as City boss Manuel Pellegrini managed Isco while in charge of Malaga before their respective departures.
Isco managed to score 11 goals in 53 appearances for the European champions last season.
